S.H.E Designing T-Shirt
Ella Favored School Bus and Dogs as School Mascots
[2009.03.12]
Using “Playground of Love” as the main theme, this was the first time S.H.E personally designed three styles of T-shirt for charity auctioning. All the proceeds will be donated to World Vision Taiwan’s Child Aid program to assist in providing schooling to over 40,000 underprivileged children in the nation. They also urged the populace to adopt a “Bread of Love” piggy bank for NTW$150 so that spare changes could be saved up and be manifested into a greater love that would help the schooling of children.
S.H.E who had saved money through the “Bread of Love” when they were at school age further hoped that everyone could join in, even if the individual effort might be small, to fill the “Bread of Love” with everyone’s kindness. Furthermore, the trio kept coming up with various ideas and hoped that everyone could response to the activity in various ways. Ella and Selina started off with: [We urge all building management and its committee members to adopt a “Loaf of Love”. The first time I will promote this is the building where I live.] Hebe hoped that more businesses could place a “Bread of Love” by the punch clock so that when they punch in for the day, the employees could donate whatever spare change they received from buying breakfast.
Speaking of the concept in clothing design, the trio who designed the T-shirts for the first time spoke expressively of their design ideas. Selina expressed that it took her approximately one day to come up with the design for the T-shirt. Because the main theme was “Playground of Love”, therefore she presented her idea using her favorite method of DIY and created a loaf of bread on the T-shirt using fabric patches. Then she accessorized the T-shirt by spelling out “LOVE” using colorful buttons. She hoped that the world of children could be as colorful as the T-shirt, [This T-shirt is very much like Selina, fill with variety, color and love and there is even a real button too!]
Hebe expressed that upon seeing Selina’s design caused her to change her own original design several times. Finally she used 16 squares to present her design idea. In her design, she used individual childhood pictures of S.H.E, pictures of children she sponsored internationally and pictures of her own dog in hopes of all children could be as blessed as she was as a child. Hebe further admitted frankly that she hoped to use the childhood pictures of the three of them to stimulate purchase. She urged everyone to purchase the T-shirts as collectibles.
Ella who had always enjoyed drawing used her expertise this time and transformed herself into a school bus driver in her hand drawn design. This design idea came from her past experience of riding the school bus. [Before I always felt very assured and peaceful when I rode in the school bus to go to school. However, even now, there are still children who live in the more remote regions that could not go to school easily because there was no convenient way of doing so. Now that I have grown up, I want to become a school bus driver that would bring the children to school smoothly.]
